Gift Facts

Wrapping paper makes all the difference. Not only are recipients happier when receiving a gift that is gift wrapped, their overall approval of the gift ranks higher too. Take the time to wrap and bow your gifts. Many stores still offer gift wrapping services, so ask.

Did you know businesses that provide gifts to their customers are limited to $25 per recipient per year?

March is National Women’s History Month

History of National Women’s History Month

By Molly Murphy MacGregor, Executive Director and Cofounder
National Women’s History Project

National Women’s History Month

By 1986, 14 states had already declared March as Women’s History Month. This momentum and state-by-state action was used as the rational to lobby Congress to declare the entire month of March 1987 as National Women’s History Month. In 1987, Congress declared March as National Women’s History Month in perpetuity. A special Presidential Proclamation is issued every year which honors the extraordinary achievements of American women.

Kindness Pays It Forward

Dear Readers,

The best feeling in the world is when you can do something for someone that you know will probably bring a smile to their face.  I also know how good it feels when someone spontaneously does something for me.  It feels good all the way around.

The article below by Alicia M. Forest, MBA is a great tie-in to a recent Press Release (click on Press Room to read) I wrote in celebration of “World Kindness Week.”  Yes, there is such an occasion.  For the entire week of November 8-14 this year, thousands of people around the world will be performing random acts of kindness.  There are so many benefits to spreading goodwill.  Especially for businesses who want to show appreciation to their clients and employees.  Just think of how rewarding it can be to pay it forward.

Read Alicia’s tips to see how these 5 easy and effective holiday marketing ideas might help your business.

5 Easy and Effective Holiday Marketing Ideas for Your Business
by Alicia M Forest, MBA

One of my business principles is “Giver’s Get,” in the sense that you are giving from a place of having no expectation of getting anything in return.

What follows are 5 ways that you can give in your business, feel really good about it, and reap the rewards from the Universe.

1. Thank your clients and customers.

An obvious one to do around Thanksgiving is to show your gratitude to your current clients and customers for their business. But you might be surprised at how few business owners actually take the time to do this.

It could be something as simple as expressing your thanks in a short email. Or you could send a thank you card in the mail. Or you could take it a step further and do something I’ve done before – sending a postcard expressing my gratitude with a link to a special – and fr*e – gift to my VIP clients and customers.

Taking the time to say thank you goes a long way towards deepening that all-important relationship with your current clients and customers. If you do nothing else this holiday season, at least do this.

2. Give your ezine list a gift.

Your ‘pot of gold’ in your business in your email list of potential clients and customers. You should always be treating them well, but at least once a year, offer them a gift – no strings attached – just because…

Something I’ve given to my subscribers a few times that has been hugely successful was my 12 Days of Christmas series, where they received something of value that benefited them in building their business once a day for the 12 days leading up to Christmas. You don’t have to offer 12 gifts, however. Just one will do very nicely as well.

Soup’s On

Soup’s On

Soup n.  A liquid food consisting of meat, fish, or vegetable stock, often with various solid ingredients added.  This is Webster’s definition of soup.  What’s yours?  Whatever it is, it should be hearty and delicious.

As we experience cooler outdoor temperatures we want to retreat to the comforts of our homes.  For many of us, that means enjoying meals with family and friends.  For me, I start thinking “Soup’s On.”  A hot bowl of soup will take the chill off and might be just what is needed to warm the body.

Here’s one of my favorite soup recipes for you to try.

Double Roasted Tuscan Chicken Soup

Prep Time:  5 Minutes   Cook Time: 8 Minutes
4 Servings

2 cups diced roasted chicken
1/2 cup diced onion
1 Tbsp. olive oil
1 cup peas & carrots
1 carton (32 oz.) College Inn Rotisserie Chicken Bold Stock
Fresh basil (optional)

1.  Cook chicken and onion in oil in large saucepan, for 3 minutes.
2.  Add peas & carrots and stock.
Simmer 5 minutes

Garnish with chopped fresh basil and Parmesan cheese, if desired.  This recipe is on the box panel of College Inn’s chicken stock.  Visit http://www.collegeinn.com for more rich and flavorful recipes.

I usually make this with leftover roasted chicken.  Once most of the chicken legs, wings and breast meat has been cut away, there’s enough left on the carcass to make a hearty pot of soup.  Keep a carton of chicken stock on hand in the pantry.  You don’t necessarily need to use fresh vegetables, canned ones will do.  If peas and carrots aren’t your favorite, substitute any vegetables you like.  I happen to like barley, so whenever I make this soup, that’s what I add to mine along with other vegetables.  Once, when I didn’t have fresh basil, I chopped up a few leaves of fresh turnip greens instead.  You create your own recipe to suit your taste buds.

During cold and flu season a Soup’s On gift basket is a great gift to send.  It can be filled with a variety of items that will get anyone on the mend quicker.  We can even personalize it for you, just ask.  Visit us at www.basketsbyconsuela.com for this and other gift ideas.
